As a newly-graduated dietitian working in general practice, I read an article about food allergy and instantly found my life-long mission. Initially, I was fascinated by the science, but as I worked with clients through the years, I came to realize that my true calling was helping people live well and move past their restrictions. My dad used to say, “You are working toward developing something important, even though you don’t know what it is right now.” That “something” ended up as the FAST Freedom Program.
In addition to client counselling, I have developed and facilitated university internship and continuing education for registered dietitians. As an expert in food hypersensitivity, I have been invited to speak at many national conferences (learn more) and sit on the medical advisory committee of non-profit organizations (learn more).
I completed a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition at the University of Alberta, one-year internship at the University of Alberta Hospitals and a Master of Science in Nutrition at the University of British Columbia. My thesis study was: “Benefits of a Histamine-Reducing Diet for Some Patients with Chronic Urticaria and Angioedema” (Can J Diet Pract Res. Spring 2000;61(1):24-26).
In my free time, I like to cook, cross-country ski, hike, take creative pictures/videos and hamlax (my family’s word for relaxing in the hammock).
