Socializing

Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.

Brené Brown

Following a restricted diet can make socializing tough. Sometimes it just feels easier to skip the stress and stay home. But over time, that can lead to feeling isolated and less connected to life.

If you’ve been avoiding social activities, try gently reintroducing them. Start small by adding a non-food activity each week, such as a walk with a friend or a group class. When you’re ready, work up to meeting family or friends for a beverage or light snack.

Planning ahead can help reduce worry. Decide what you’ll order before you arrive, so you can relax, be present, and enjoy the connection and conversation.
